Talking House SCREAMS Stay Away (Rant)

So I really need to get this off my chest...

I purchased a couple of Talking House units from eBay (eeks) thinking that I was going to record my happy little message, setup my units, sell my client's homes and move on.  I get the units and there are no yard signs.  No big deal I though, as I can just order a few directly from the Talking House folks.

 I called the toll-free number and was told all their "success coaches" (that is really what they are called) were in a meeting and that someone would have to call me back.  I explained all I wanted to do was order a few supplies.  I was told I would need to speak to a success coach to do this.  A few hours later I get a call from one of their success coaches, Bunny or Penny or something.  She is all bubbly in any event.  I tell her I need a few signs and she tells me (without asking how to spell my last name - look above) that I am not in their system and I cannot order supplies. 

 I didn't even get a chance to tell her what I wanted before she started spewing "company policy, company policy.  We only sell supplies to registered users and that is company policy."  WHAT?! All I want is a flipping yard sign so I can advertise YOUR PRODUCT.   It's not like I am asking for it for free.

Bunny wanted nothing of it.  I tired to rationalize with her, I even admitted I bought the units secondhand and that I was trying to migrate myself into the program - legally!  "Company policy, we can only sell supplies to registered users."  HOW DO I BECOME REGISTERED SO I CAN BUY A FREAKING YARD SIGN??!?!  "well, you have to have the current Talking House transmitter owner send us an email with the serial numbers of the units and you name stating they sold the units to you."  I tell Bunny she is not living up to her title of success coach as she is not helping me succeed.  She didn't seem to care and just kept telling me over and over that "company policy this and company policy that"  I again tried to let her know that as a success coach she was failing me.  

I WANT TO TALK TO SOMEONE ELSE.  ALL I WANT IS A YARD SIGN - YOU KNOW THE ONE WITH YOU NAME ON IT ADVERTISING YOUR PRODUCT!!!!!  I am connect to a lovely gentleman by the name of Don.  He comes on the phone with the same "company policy" attitude.  Goes on about how he will not sell me anything.  After about 8 minutes of discussion, I ask him for the name of the President of the company because I want to write him a letter telling him I can easily go out and have my own yard signs made (with the graphic they provide) and that he is missing a revenue opportunity by not offering supplies for sale retail. 

 You're not going to believe this one.  I ask Don for the President's name, he tells me to look it up on their website.  WHAT YOU LITTLE PUNK!  TELL ME THE FREAKING PRESIDENTS NAME OVER THE PHONE!  No, you can look it up on the website.  And, he will tell you the same thing, it is "company policy" to not sell supplies to unregistered users.  I TOLD YOU I AM WILLING TO REGISTER, PAY A FEE TO DO SO WHATEVER!!!!!

After a few more minutes of arguing, Don finally tells me - reluctantly - the president's name is Michale Miller.  

Now that I have shared this touching story with you, if you are considering Talking House as an advertising tool - DON'T!  Stay the heck away from it.  All they want is your money.  No, check that.  I'm not really sure what they want as I offered them money and they wouldn't take it.

How frustrating. It is impossible to understand why companies act like this. I've run into more than one. Hard to believe they stay in business. I guess enough poor people fall prey, they still make money.
