Now that so many properties are on line, you can start looking for your new home without leaving your desk.  If you do not have an opportunity to shop on the Internet another good way is start picking up home guides and magazines that often are distributed at your area grocery stores. In addition, of course, an excellent resource is often classified advertising that appears in your local paper.  You can also visit model homes that are often open on weekends for touring.  When you have decided what you like (and do not like) and you narrowed down your choices, ask your friends and family if they know a REALTOR they could recommend.  Many times that could help you find a professional that could represent you as a buyers agent and guide you through the home purchase process.

Some things are going to be important to consider in your new home, so make a list. Do you really know what you need and want in your home?  You will save yourself many hours of shopping if you make a list ahead of time. Zero in on the features you must have, would like to have, definitely do not want and would prefer not to have.  Your goal is to find the right home for your family without falling in love with one that does not suit your needs.  Start compiling your wish list by thinking about what you like and dislike about your current home.
