Q&A: I'm a newbie blogger. How can I get more people to read my posts?
That is a great subject, as everyone can learn from others whether they are a newbie or an oldbie. Not everything has to be black and white and to the point. Just relax and let your thought flow onto the page. If you have to delete or add something, that's the beauty of the computer age. Just correct it.
Question: I'm a newbie blogger. How can I get more people to read my posts?
Answer: This was a question I had as a newbie (back in the day). And you know what? It's less about you and more about how you respond to other bloggers. And there were several things that worked for me:
- First, you have to write some good posts. Have at least some that are comment worthy. Mix it up, including ot only local market information, but also maybe some photo blogs (pets get comments), some consumer information, posts about the state of the industry. Throw in a little personal stuff. Be real. And yeah, mixing it up works.
- Every day, I commented on a lot more than ten blogs each day. It was more like twenty at a minimum.
- Subscribe to your favorite bloggers. I subscribed to mine - the ones I commented on a lot. Most of us pay some attention to who subscribes to out blogs and check them out every so often.
- I paid attention to who was commenting on my blog, and I did my best to reciprocate comments. If they left me a comment, I'd at least check out their blog, and if I found something comment-worthy, voila!
- Attend any meetups in your area. If you are at any state association or NAR meetings, check to see if there are any Active Rain get togethers. Blogging on Active Rain is a contact sport. When you've met someone face-to-face, you're more likely to read each other's stuff.
If you are looking for comments, you'll get more from Active Rain bloggers than from ordinary readers. But your non-real estate readers are the one who might be here looking for someone to do business with.
Most of the old timers here on Active Rain really enjoy helping newbies get into the blogging thing, and if you ever need help, feel free to call or email anyone you've connected with to ask for help.
