Facebook, it’s all fun until you get hijacked!

My advice? Just say NO to Facebook (games).

If you need just one reason to avoid Facebook games, THIS could be it.

If you have ever lamented the time you realize you have spent playing a game on Facebook, I can assure you it will PALE in comparison to the time you spend getting not only your Facebook account straightened out, and possibly the use of your PC as well, not to mention your street cred on Facebook if you make one errant click.

This article on gdgt.com explains in simple terms how to avoid getting tricked.

An excerpt from the article, a “gold nugget” in my opinion is this:

To protect yourself from being fooled, make sure to never allow an extension to be installed that you didn't specifically want, and always be suspicious of strange messages, even if they are from people you normally trust.

In case it is not readily apparent, I am NOT a fan of Facebook games in general, for multiple reasons including privacy and security setting most of these apps allow.  So if you are a fan of Facebook games, no need to write me a nastygram, just don’t invite me and we’ll be good.

Larry - Thanks for your comment, hijackers are getting very creative in their methods to trick people, scary AND sad.

AMEN - FB games are the root of all problems... and when I see friends who routinely "PLAY" FB games I am VERY hesitant to open any of thier posts unless I know it was from them.... something to think about!

Cheers,

Elise,

Seems not to be much "in between" on these, some folks seem to love them and get totally absorbed and some think they are the scourge of the internet, as for me: just say no :)

Thanks for your comment.

Greg: Never played a Facebook game, and never click on strange links. I do get strange emails that always say something like "hey" and then a link. Right, as if I'd click on it. My favorite button: "delete".
