Colour Trends For 2008

After a few years of neutral palettes, you can expect to see a lot of colour this year.  A good indicator of what will be "in" this year is to follow the fashion world.  Keep an eye on what the models are wearing down the runways of Paris and Milan.

You will see a return to bright colours.  Predictions by top designers are that the three big colours to watch for this year are yellow, green and blue.

It can be difficult choosing the right colour for your home.  A colour that looks good in one room in your home, may not look right in another.  This is  due to light exposure differentials.  A good practice is to buy a small sample pot of paint and apply two coats on your wall in a two foot square area.  This should also be done on the adjoining wall as well.

The next step is then to study the colour for a few days at different times of the day on both walls.  Make sure that you see all of the variations that will occur due to light exposure.  If you are happy with your choice, then go ahead and buy the necessary amount of paint to complete your project.

If you prefer some expert advice, Dezigner Digz would be happy to assist you.  Whether it is one room or you entire home that you wish to change,  we will sit down with you and discuss your colour likes and dislikes.  We will then assist you in selecting colours that will compliment your surroundings and your personality.

It will be refreshing to see some brighter colors, just not TOO bright.  We do get a lot of lime green and turquoise exteriors over here already!

Georgina - Yes, it will be nice to see some brighter colours, especially where I'm living.  It's been such a dull, dreary winter.  Oh how I wish I was in Maui right now!

Hi all!

I have redesign to present on Saturday for a kitchen.

In addition to adding darker countertops and knobs, glass front cabinets and a pub table- I will be adding green to the walls- a soft sage green. Good to know I'm on-trend, LOL!

Thanks for the info!

Leslie - The kitchen sounds great.  Can you post before and after pics when it's done?  I'd love to see it!
