The Summer That Wasn't??

By
Home Stager with Rooms With Style

I really am thinking this Summer didn't happen. Did I blink and it was gone? June was about 11 days long, July about 7 days long and August about 3 days long. No really! Summer

I heard that the older we get the faster time goes and I truly believe that. But at this rate I will be 90 in a couple months.

Is it just my age making things go faster or was it other things?

First we started with a really cold, gray, gloomy and rainy June. It was the end of June before we got spring temperatures here in Minneapolis and summer temps didn't come until July.

Then there was work. Work, work and more work. All good and it is great to be busy but the days were jammed pack from early morning to late at night.

Too much work

Then, my Mom's health has been declining so I have made many trips to Fargo, lost sleep worrying and spent hours trying to manage her care from a distance.

I didn't get to the outdoor restaurants I normally get to.

I didn't get to the outdoor pool at my health club as much as I wanted to.

I want the summer to start over!!

So what about you? Did your summer actually happen?

If so I hope it was a good one. If not why did it go so fast for you?

My summer went quickly too-awful heat in July and lots of rain in August.  I'm starting my summer today with a trip to Santa Fe and Alburquerque where the weather is warm and dry! Have a good day Shar!

Good morning Shar and Happy Labor Day.  Whew.... what a summer!  It may be unofficially over on the calendar but it's still here which is a good thing.  But seems like all we've done is WORK WORK WORK!  Not complaining saying thank You Lord and bring it on!

Christmas was about 3 months ago so summer hasn't got here yet. With 3 family members graduating college, 1 wedding and 2 months "on call" for jury duty. I didn't get a summer either.

Shar, you have had a busy and stressful summer, and hope your fall moves much slower.    Sometimes summers just go too fast.

This summer went so quickly.  The only time I went to the beach was when I was in North Carolina and we went twice.  No pool, no cookouts...............nothing.  Sad part is, I don't even want it to start over.

Have a blast Joanna! I love Santa Fe!

I thank the Lord everyday for the work John. But I am exhausted due to everything else along with it. Mentally and physically. I pray your business stays strong!

Ha. I love that...summer is only a couple months away since it was just Christmas Rob. Perfect!

I bit slower pace would be okay with me Joan.

Ugh Roger. That doesn't sound good. You should have come to Mpls and we could have hit the pool every day and had a cookout every night. Next year.

I feel similar.  It was cold for so long this year.  And, then all of a sudden super hot, so you had to stay inside.  Now it's labor day (which is earlier this year, so technically it's a shorter summer).

I agree, this really was the summer that wasn't. I always judge the summer time according to the school schedule and this year especially, it felt like the kids got out one day and were buying schools supplies to go back the next week!

Hello Shar. Sometimes it is just like that. You are there for your Mom and you saved Annika. All in all a pretty meaningful time.

Shar you've had a lot on your plate between work and being there for your Mom.  I can see how the days/months flew by for you.  As for me I am very glad to see Sept then Oct...and then really nice weather for the next 9 months.

Shar - We also had a cooler, wet Spring into Summer here in Northern VA, so it didn't really feel like summer, until about 3 weeks ago... now all the pools are closing down for the season and we know that it will soon be Fall... for the most part Summer passed me by due to the real estate activity going on in our market.

It was a short summer for sure Debbie.

Plus the school supplies were out in July which doesn't help Kathy.

I didn't even list the emergencies with Annika and Sally this summer. People would think I was making it up Sheila. What a summer.....

Yes, your nice weather is coming as ours ends. My sister loves it there. I may visit her over the New Year so we will have to meet Anna!

So it was crazy there too AJ? Man it was nuts here. All good...never complain about too much work!

This summer flew by!!  We had fantastic weather in Portland (too hot for me, but most people seemed to like it) and I just saw on the weather forecast that we're headed back to the high 80's and low 90's again, for all of next week.  I've been back-to-back staging so many homes that they're all starting to look alike LOL!  (not really, but sometimes it feels like it)

Thanks for checking in Ron. Mom is still struggling. I am trying to get some rest this week.

It is 90s in MN too Maureen. I have been so swamped I actually forgot to get a signed contract last week on a vacant home I did, first time in 9 years! I did get payment though and still trying to get the contract. My mind is a blur.
