The California DRE has issued new requirements for real estate agents to receive qualifying continuing education credit.
1. Attendees must present valid identification immediately before admittance to a live presentation, or immediately before the administration of the final examination. Valid forms of identification include the following:
a. A Valid California driver's license.
b. A Current Identification Card described in Section 13000 of the California Vehicle Code.
c. Any identification of the participant issued by a governmental agency or a recognized real estate related trade organization within the immediately preceding five (5) years which bears a photograph, signature and identification number of the participant.
2. A Final Examination must be administered at the conclusion of each continuing education offering.
3. In order to pass the Final Examination, participants must receive a score of at least 70% in order to receive continuing education credit.
Sponsors of Continuing Education offerings must commit to refraining from the selling of their goods and services during the presentation. In addition, if marketing materials are present, the sponsor must disclose their fees.
These requirements are effective for all continuing education offerings being offered after March 1, 2008.
So, if you plan on attending a continuing education seminar be prepared to take an examination at the end of the session and MAKE SURE YOU BRING A PHOTO ID.
