Calling all Sedona Lovers & Hikers!

Sedona is one of my favorite places to hike, especially in the summer when it's a tad to hot to hike in Phoenix - a balmy 109 today! One of the hikes we like to share with visitors is called Schnebly Hill Road. The drive up and the views are absolutley spectacular. There are many spots along the way where you can stop, enjoy the views and take a hike if you like.  It's also fun because there are lots of BIG ROCKS to climb around on - and what little or big kid doesn't like climbing around on BIG ROCKS and BOULDERS!

Post Script 2/14/17. Do NOT drive this road in your car or truck even if it's 4 wheel drive.  We went up there last summer (8/16) and the road was extremely EXTREMLY rough. Honestly we were lucky to get to the top safely and not wreck the truck or get anybody hurt. I will never drive it again (which is a bummer as it used to be fun).  ONLY do a jeep tour - you will thank me - TRUST ME ON THIS ONE!

The road up the hill is not for the faint of heart. Case in point our visitor from Toronto was on the floor in the back seat on the opposite side of the cliff holding on for deal life. And seriously in the 25 years I've been hiking in Sedona that was a first for me. She scared the bagebers out of all of us with her screams - which isn't an easy feat to accomplish with our motley crew!  She's still alive so there is hope for all you faint at heart types! Oh - one more thing - be sure to drive a 4 wheel drive vehicle. Don't even think about taking a regular passenger car! Trust me on this one - ok?

Anna .. Anna .. Anna!  You tease us with such beautiful pics!  And just how much "cooler" was Sedona than Phoenix???  I'm thinking if Phoenix was 109 degrees, it wouldn't take much ...

AB, I've been to Sedona twice and absolutely loved it there.  The scenery is absolutely breathtaking, and that was without even making it up to the top of the rocks like you did!

Kathy at least several day in Sedona.....it's gorgeous!

Gene it actually was a lot cooler up in Sedona....probably about 20 to 25 degrees which to me is heaven at this time of year!

Bliz - it is indeed breathtaking scenery.......and the quietness of the hikes in remote areas plus scenery that is out of this world is beyond description!

Good morning Anna, thanks for sharing your video and the story of your trip.

Loved the story about the screaming passenger, reminds me of the day that I took my wife and a top heavy truck up a canyon road to our forestry camp in the Zuni Mountains of NM for the first time.
