When it’s time to go shopping for a new home, how do you know if THIS house is the RIGHT house
for you and your family? No one can answer that question for you, but it is my job as a Real Estate agent to advise and guide you to the best possible property that will fit your needs.
The first thing we need to do is identify the top five things that you need for a house to be the right house. Those are usually pretty easy. How many bedrooms and bathrooms. Big backyard, basement, granite countertops, hardwood floors, in-law suite? The top five will be the deal-breakers for you. We’ll keep coming back to that list with every home you want to see, to make sure it meets those criteria.
But before I can help you choose the right house, there are a ton of other questions that need to be answered, beyond the basic bedroom, bathroom, budget questions. I need to know everything about you! What are your goals and dreams short and long term? What is the perfect day at home for you like? What are your hobbies and passions? What sports are the kids into? Everything is important. I had a client recently that found the perfect house. It had everything he told me he wanted. And it was even under budget! (When does that happen?) But when it came right down to it, he did not make an offer on that house, because it didn’t have room for a workshop in the garage. That wasn’t on the list!! We wasted weeks looking for the wrong right house! And in this tight market, you don’t want to waste any time looking at the wrong properties, because while you are doing that, the right house will sell under your nose.
I know that the initial meeting can be a little uncomfortable. It will feel like I am asking questions that are too personal, or that you haven’t thought about, or that you just don’t want to talk about with a stranger.
