Is the Real Estate business about luck?

For those of you that believe the real estate business is about luck you should take a look at this video clip from an episode of 20/20 on the subject of "Luck". This is an interview with Scott Ginsberg who is also known as the "Name Tag Guy". A lot can be learned about approach and being open to opportunities. Has anyone seen any of his professional presentations? It sounds like he is a great presenter with a wonderful message.

If real estate, like any business, is about luck - it's largely about the luck that we create for ourselves.

I believe luck is when preparation meets opportunity. I'm beginning to wear my Realtor badge everywhere.

I'll take luck 100% of the time. Luck can draw them in, but knowledge, experience and attitude is what keeps them with you.

I always wear my name tag, I get comments just about everyday. It gives me a open door to give them my business card. I don't understand why more Realtors are not using this simple tool, more often.

This video convinced me to get the name badges out of the cup holder and put them on. They work.

"Commitment increases luck"--gotta love it. Thanks for sharing. Like Eliese above, I'm gonna go look for my name badge...and I'll wear it with the same enthusiasm Scott does (I might even call it my Scott badge to remind me!) Cheers, Harley

Just to add to my comment and in respond to those that have commented. One of the least expensive marketing tools that we can use is our name-tag. So use it.

Luck has nothing to do with it! When you can reproduce the results at least 15 times then I'll buy into it.

Yes, it's about luck but I strongly believe you create your own luck. Make yourself known... give the public an opportunity to know who you are and what you do. The more people you meet the more opportunities you'll be presented with. In the end you're going to win!
