ActiveRain Updates - 9.11.13

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with ActiveRain Corp.

We had a successful release last night which required zero downtime.  Our development team made big SEO strides as well as bug fixes and enhancements.  Allow me to share a few with you.

Color Theme
You asked, we delivered.  You now have the option of orange or blue to display in your profile box.  Orange is the default but can be changed to blue by clicking Edit Profile, Color Theme.  We kept the options limited to the ActiveRain palette.

Reset Password
You again have the ability to easily reset your password.  From your profile picture on the top left in the Nav bar, you have a drop down menu that includes Reset Password.

License
The license character number has been increased from 20 to 25.

Groups
Groups you're in have been alphabetized to easily find the one you're looking for.  We have a big project ahead of us in cleaning up stagnant groups so there will be more to come.

States
The State page has been changed to Local Info.  From the Nav bar click Resources, Local Info, Local Home.  Our new Local Info page has an interactive map and search bar to guide you to your destination.

Q&A
Meta titles and descriptions have been enhanced for better SEO in our Q&A section.

Referral Network
The Referral Network links have been fixed.

As always, we give big thanks to our IT team who works so hard to keep AR running and performing wonderfully. There are more bugs and fixes in the works and will be worked on now for the next releases.  If you have any information for our IT team, please email support@activerain.com with the details.

Like most AR members, I appreciate the changes being made because without change nothing can be improved.

Appreciate the changes - but would still like to see a Category for Mortgage Lenders - as I'm sure many Lenders would.  Thanks!

Thanks for all that you do for us.  Still hope they fix the paragraphing bug on the Testimonials.  It looks bad.

Okay. I changed to blue. I'll skip hundreds of good things but list my quibbles.

1) In Groups, if you search for a group by name, the results should include only Groups, not every post that's ever mentioned the subject.

2) There's better SEO in the Q&A section? Okay.

3) What's the Referral Network? Okay, I clicked Kerrie's link.  How do you get to it from the menus? Perhaps this feature could be better publicized?

4) Uploading pictures still has a bug, after the last problem and temporary fix, at the Upload Pictures page where the alignment is off the page, no matter which browser I use.

5) I concur with comments on pasting templates into new drafts.

6) I concur with comments about the blog roll. Love to have my subscriptions show up on the right and have a most recent posts by all members list on the left.

7) Agree ith Richard #22 that my profile is pretty much complete at this point.

8) The map feature only seems to drill down to the state level. Am I missing something? If I am, I imagine others will miss it, too.

9) I rather liked Associates. It's okay subscribing/following, but some people don't post much. I'd rather have my special lists.

Y'all are great. Thanks!

As for groups: if you reward (points) the moderators, then maybe they would keep the groups current.

Dorie - There has been one other report of that; I've added you to the ticket with IT to investigate further.  Until then, orange it is.

Kerrie, the States page is pretty but the old one was so much easier and faster to find the agent I needed. I could click on the two letter abbreviation for the state, then see a list of clickable counties and cities. It was great for finding out which agents are close and active in or near the location I'm researching. Is there any possiblility of adding those features back?

Also, the public could do the same thing I did and then zoom into the neighborhoods. I don't see how they'll ever get there with the new format. IMHO

Maria - It may have been easier but the amount of links on that page was hurting AR and all those housed on those pages.  We made the change to boost the SEO and keep high ranking authority status with Google.  I feel your pain but a few extra clicks are worth the improved ranking.
