September 11th Market Update: Never Forget

Good Morning,

You will see rates have remained stable over the past week and instead of details I always like to share stories on this date.

I was driving to work 12 years ago when the first plane hit, stuck on the highway I was wondering to myself if this was real or a ‘war of the world’s’ radio hoax.  In the office with my coworkers, we watched the second hit and the ensuing coverage.

Within an hour, we were all on the way home to be with friends and family.

The first call I made was to my girlfriend at the time, we had been dating for merely four months but my instincts told me that she was the person I needed to be with while soaking in and trying to understand the unexplainable.   We’ve now been married for over ten years, have two wonderful kids and still think back to that day as it brought this indelible moment of clarity.  A moment where the trivial parts of our lives that we let take hold and stress us out no longer mattered.

I use this day to remind myself what is truly important to me, my relationships to my family and friends, and to let the material weight of the world wash off my shoulders.

So please share with me, where were you and what did you learn or take away from the tragedy?

Rates: 30 year fixed at 4.625% (APR 4.691) and the 15 year at 3.625% (APR 3.725), FHA: 4.25% (APR 6.294):

As always rates change with individual credit scenarios and programs, APRs are estimated based off of a $250,000 purchase price with 20% down and a 740 credit score, if you want an exact quote, call. These are not quotes, merely a baseline measure to gauge how rates change from week to week.

RETIRED

Matthew, I was at the Fort Lauderdale airport. I was supposed to be on an 8 am nonstop flight to LA, when I was told the flight was delayed because of AC issues. An hour later, I heard the awful news.  I spent the next several days in Fort Lauderdale until flights were resumed. I was on one of the first flights back to LA.  I am very grateful my initial flight was postponed, otherwise I would have been grounded somewhere between FL and CA.

I will never forget that awful day and those who died.
