Every Agent should have an Emergency Kit in the trunk of their car.
I saw a blog by Toni about ruined shoes at a showing and thought we all need an emergency kit for just these occasions and more.
Actually, it is a good idea for everyone to have some kind of emergency kit in their auto. So here goes with my suggestions.
What do we Need and Why
Personal Items
- A spare pair of comfortable shoes, Toni's blog will give you a good reason why your-dog-peed-on-my-shoe
- Umbrella, come rain or shine , they are always handy
- First Aid Kit-a must for cuts, blisters, sunburn and other items for minor accidents
- Manicure set, or at least a nail file, they always break when you least expect.
- Spare Blouse/shirt- ever dropped coffee on your blouse or shirt just before an appointment.
- Spare pair of panyhose/socks- if you step in a puddle of something. Water, poop etc) these will come in handy
- Water Bottles- for you and your clients
- Wet Towellettes-our hands get dirty from handling lockboxes, keys, door handles etc etc.
- Hand towel- good for wiping hands as well
- Blanket- this item should be in every auto in case of accidents or if you are stranded.
- Snack- energy bars etc. Sometimes you don't have time to stop for lunch between appointments
- Flashlight- or the flashlight app on your Smartphone
- Simple tool Kit- a couple of screwdrivers, a hammer etc
- Ziploc baggies- good for holding wet or dirty items from the above list
- Toilet Roll- you know why. Kathy Stoltman (see commnet below) reminded me of that one.
Real Estate Items
- File folder with blank Paperwork, such as contracts, addendums, listing agreements, you get the picture.
- Real Estate signs- to replace any that have disappeared or get damaged
- Sign clips- those pesky things that attach your sign to the post.
- Real Estate riders- same as the signs
- Extra flyers for each listing- ready to refill the flyer boxes and to also hand out.
- Business Cards- can't have enough of them
Where are we going to put all this Stuff?
I purchased one of those plastic bins for all of the personal items and a separate bin for the Real Estate items. They both fit neatly in my trunk and can be easily removed when not needed.
If you have any more items you think should be added to the list, please put them in the commnet section and I will add them to the post. Thanks
