Where are all the Butterfly's?

Early this spring, I had heard that there would not be many Monarch butterfly's this year.

They were right.  I have seen 4.  At this time of the year I usually see 8-10 and more.

But, I am surprised that we jusat are not seeing hardly any Butterfly's this year of any type.

I saw this one today but it is a rarity.

So where are all the Butterfly's?

Funny you should post this: a friend has been container gardening and has a ton of butterfly's lay eggs and hatch...but I'm not sure if they are Monarch....

And the ones I've seen are much smaller than last year.  I'd love to have a place where I could hatch Monarch's.  There was an article in today's paper about someone locally who is.

I've only seen 1 Monarch this year.  I can remember as a child there seemed to be so many more.  We do get a few more Swallowtails, but even they aren't very abundant.
