Free Flu Shots in Austin

Every Travis County resident ages six months and older is eligible to receive free Flu Shots in Austin, even if you are on Medicare.As the seasons change, the opportunity to get sick increases.  It doesn't matter whether you're a baby or one of the elderly, chances are good that the changing weather will somehow affect you.  Currently, Travis County is providing free flu shots in Austin for both those residents who are either under-insured or have no insurance at all.

Any resident at least six months of age is eligible for free flu shots in Austin.  Medicare recipients are also welcome to attend a free shot clinic.  Just make sure you bring your Medicare card with you.  Since no one can predict exactly when the flu will hit, the sooner you schedule your shot, the better off you'll be.  Typically, the Austin area sees an increase in the onset of flu between October and May.  However, it came four weeks earlier than normal last year.

  • September 21 - Virginia Brown Recreation Center (7500 Blessing Ave), 9am to 2pm
  • September 28 - South Austin Neighborhood Center (2508 Durwood St), 9am to 2pm
  • October 1 - Rosewood Zaragosa Neighborhood Center (2800 Webberville), 3pm to 7pm

Free Flu Shots in Austin Area, No Appointment Needed

  • October 5 - Allison Elementary (515 Vargas Rd), 10am to 1pm
  • October 7 - East Rural Community Center (600 W Carrie Ln, Manor, TX), 8:30am to 11am
  • October 15 - South Rural Community Center (3518 FM 973 S, Del Valle, TX), 9am to 11am
  • October 23 - Travis County Community Center (18649 FM 1431 #10A, Jonestown, TX), 10am to 12pm
  • October 26 - Reagan High School (7104 Berkman Dr), 9:30am to 3pm

Search the MLS for South Austin homes for saleAll flu shots are provided absolutely free of charge.  However, a $10 donation is suggested to help continue to fund the program.  Besides the free flu shots in Austin, you can help prevent spreading the flu to others by washing your hands often, covering your mouth with your shirt or sleeve (not your hands) when you sneeze or cough, keep your hands away from your face, nose, eyes and mouth and stay home from work or school until you are better.

Ha ha.....Roy Kelley just posted a blog about two or three above yours about free rabies clinic.  I said to him that it's that time of year.....rabies vaccinations for the pets and flu shots for the owners.
