Birds - Osprey 2

Check those claws!!  At the Naples Pier this morning... Do you know this bird?  Hint, their only diet is fish - and though they dive in the water to catch a meal, they can't swim.  If their claws get stuck on a big fish, they could actually drown.

Ellie, what amazing crystal clear photos!  I did not know that if the claws got stuck in a fish that the birds could drown.  It makes sense.

Sharon - That would be a bad day for an Osprey if they picked on a large fish and it dragged them in the water.

Tim - We have our share of Ospreys in the area, and I find it impressive how they swoop up a fish from the water.  I've always expected the fish to fall off their grasp, but seeing their claws close up I understand no fish has a chance.  Love the bird life here.

Ellie, Those are some wicked sharp talons on that osprey!  Can't say that we see them in our neck of the woods, but kind of hard to spot the fish in brown river water!
