Free Daily Breakfast…
Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools System (CMS) has launched a free breakfast program designed to get students off to a great, healthy start. Located in Charlotte North Carolina, the school district’s Universal Breakfast program provides its 141,000+ students with the opportunity to enjoy free, daily breakfast regardless of household income. The goal aims at addressing the widespread child hunger dilemma. Studies have shown breakfast is the most important meal of the day and is essential in helping students’ overall growth and development.
So far, CMS reports that about 1 in every 4 students in the school district participates in the program, with hopes to increase the level of participation. The program is certainly in ailment with Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools’ Mission: To maximize academic achievement by every student in every school. In all, this is another wonderful program moving in the right step in providing & preparing students with the same opportunity to achieve success.
