While on tour this morning I was riding with some Realtor friends and we started talking about giving to others. My friend, Beverly, said, "Mary, I know you are giving, Perrin told me." I replied, "Yes, I am and I raised Mitzi, my daughter, to be giving. Then I told them this story.
When Mitzi was in about the 5th grade, I picked her up from school. It was in the winter and a very cold and rainy day. I saw this little girl waiting for the bus. She had on a clear plastic rain coat and the coat was just stiff from the cold and rain. I asked Mitzi if she knew her. She said she was in her class and she was poor. I can't remember the little girl's name, so I'll call her Susan.
On the way home Mitzi said, "I want to give Susan a coat and some of my clothesl" I thought, that is a good idea! When we arrived home, Mitzi went to the coat closet and picked out her brand new coat that I had just bought her. "This is the one," she said. She then went to her closet and picked out some very cute outfits for Susan. I put them in a bag and the next day when Susan was waiting for the bus, Mitzi gave them to her.
Susan was so appreciative and thanked Mitzi. Years passed, and Mitzi had graduated from high school, when we saw Susan. We were in the Pizza Hut, and she came over and said, "Mitzi, you were the most popular and prettiest girl in school, no one else cared about me, but you." " Those clothes and coat were a blessing to me." She said her mother was a single mom and there was very little money.
Mitzi and I were in tears as we finished our pizza. Mitzi is grown now and I have two grandchildren. Mitzi is still a very giving person, and she teaches her children to give. You know, we have to be compassionate to others! "But for the grace of God, go I."
I am a true believer in Karma, and what goes around will come back to you. Being compassionate and giving can be the best things in this business and in life itself.
