Rejuvenate....a perspective from Colorado Springs

By
Real Estate Agent with EXP Realty, LLC

What does it feel like to live in a place that has made news headlines repeatedly since June?  For me, I feel wearied.  I also feel proud of how resilient our community is.    It is also an unfortunate that it is easy to look around and find someone who is even worse off than we are.  Mural on wall of the Mountain Living Studio

I've taken pictures of the fires and fire damage.  I've taken pictures of the floods and flood damage.  Yet those are not the pictures that I want to share.

Today, as I ponder what the term "Rejuvenate" means, I have decided to share a few pictures from Manitou Springs, a small town on the west side of Colorado Springs.

Flowers and Aspen in Manitou Springs near City Hall

This summer, Manitou Springs has had to repeatedly deal with the brunt of the flood waters coming down from the Waldo Canyon burn scar.  Manitou Springs is alive.  Manitou Springs is vibrant.  Manitou Springs is open for business.

The Incline in Manitou Springs still provides the best workout around- in my opinion.

That's a great attitude, Sondra.  CO has certainly been beat up this year, but your advice is great for those living there and beyond.

I like your attitude Sondra and I'm it will be contagious.  Last night at our Church Small Group meeting we held those affected in the Colorado area by Mother Natures wrath up in prayer for comfort, strength and commitment to carry onward in the clean up progress.

The woman in the mural looks like you. My friends in Lyons are safe but displaced, and won't be able to go back to their house for months.

Sondra-Excellent quote and I love all your pics in this blog and with all the negative that has happened in your area with mother nature it is nice to see there is still much beauty. Have a great week. That climb looks daunting.

Your photos and thoughts Sondra point out to me it is all how we look at things. I like your positive approach. It is not denying that hardship happens, it is focusing on our reaction to it. Life is full of ups and downs and DWELLING on the downs does not get you out of the rut. The brick mural is my favorite image and the hikers going UP the incline to me symbolize overcoming a struggle. Great post.

Sondra.  I am so glad you are focusing on the positive.  Colorado is a wonderful place to call home and we have dealt with our share of tragedy this past year.  We will re-build and re-grow and become stronger because of it.

Mike, thank you.   Attitudes shape our outlooks.  I try to keep a positive one.

John, the power of pray is amazing.  Thank you!

Brad, I'm sorry to hear about your friends getting displaced.  I'm hoping/praying that people will be able to get back sooner than expected.

Sharon, thank you.  I"m always thrilled when I can find the "perfect quote" to express my point.  The climb is daunting but that is what makes it so worth while once you are done.

Gary, I didn't even think about how the hikers going up the Incline would symbolize overcoming the struggle but you are right.  Thanks.

Sondra, it is difficult to write posts on the disasters Colorado has endured this year and last year.    Your fires were beyond belief, and hope you were not affected by the flood water this past week.    Colorado is strong, and will take years to re-build.

Thanks for your positive slant on the headlines. Your pictures are wonderful and tell the story. I was in Manitou last fall. I love that little town.

Than, the people in the Colorado Springs will bounce back just fine - just maybe with a little bit of PTSD syndrome.  Some of the areas in the Boulder area will have a few more challenges.  They are in my prayers.

Joan, you are right.  Thankfully, my closest friends and acquaintances have only had to deal with soaked basements this time around.  I"m still dealing with home repairs from a sick tree that was hit  my house earlier this year during a wind event, so I'm glad that I missed the flooding problems. I hope that you and your friends weathered the storm as best as possible.

Debbie, We've needed a postive slant.  I wish that I could have been in the Colorado Springs area when you were here last fall.  It would have been wonderful to get to meet you.  Manitou is amazing.

Sondra, It is the human spirit that doesn't want to be beaten. Wonderful photos remind us that nature will heal the land and we can keep going.
