The Virtual Traveler - Here is a shout out to John Mayer's Beach Blog.
John's blog about the Cocoa Beach Pier and Community will provide the inspiration to take a trip to the "I Dream Of Jeannie Beach". You can imagine sitting at the bar listening to the music, sipping margaritas and snacking on shrimp fresh off the boat! We fell in love with Cocoa Beach because it has that quaint feel of an earlier simpler time - local mom & pop shops, pristine beaches & surf boards. There are plenty of vacation rentals available, we found ours on VRBO, and were thrilled to easily find a lovely condo on the beach.
From our home base, we visited Cape Canaveral, many beaches and of course had to try paddle boarding and surfing.
White sugary sand on Cocoa Beach beckons you to take long walks on the beach or just plop down in a beach chair listening to the Atlantic Surf. Your thoughts are taken to another time, imagining what the early settlers must have thought when they first crossed this tropical paradise? I was quite warm the entire trip, and cannot imagine being dressed in the head to toe clothing that the explorers would have been wearing. I definitely appreciated the air conditioned car that we could escape to!
Another very cool thing about Cocoa Beach is its nickname: The Space Coast because they rapidly built up the Kennedy Space Center and the surrounding communities in the early 1960's. We happened to be there at the same time that they were launching a Delta Rocket and were able to see the awesome launch from our condo balcony.
There's plenty of local flavor: restaurants, coffee shops and Froyo shops to cool you off. If you want to have a try at surfing there's of course world famous Ron Jon's as well as individuals who offer lessons on the sport. We found Cocoa Beach to be enchanting and look forward to returning very soon. Thanks John for inspiring me to blog about your tropical treasure.
