When you travel do you Drive or Fly?

I know that there are times when you must fly, but when traveling in state or within 600 miles do you drive or fly?

In the last few years we have all had bad airport and flight experiences.  Delays are the norm... tight seats, crazy TSA questions, the hassle and expense.  I'm tired of the airlines... are you?

Even with high gas prices, I would rather take matters into my own hands and drive.  When you add up the hours you must be there before the flight, often times you can drive to your destination before you would arrive on a plane. Plus you get to see the countryside.  You get to stop at diners, drive-ins, and dives... you get to smell the roses.

Maybe I'm reminded of my days on the mini-tour, driving from town to town, meeting people and really experiencing the country.

I'm heading to Santa Cruz tomorrow... and yes, I could have flown.  But I'm driving! driving instead of flying

Hi Kathy -- in December I took the train up to San Francisco -- it was nice to avoid the TSA, the waiting, the delays and take the train out from historic Union Station in Los Angeles and enjoy the trip with pretty nice accomodations including meals, a wine tasting, wi-fi, some nice sights along the way and the ability to walk around freely.   Yes, a lot slower than flying but less stressful(for me) than driving.    It's not likely to be the way I travel there but it was something different.

Kathy,

We like Road trips, and we really enjoyed taking the train in Europe.  Have talked about taking the train here, we just seen to opt out and drive to LA.  Have fun in Santa Cruz.  A

That's part of the American experience is to travel via vehicle and see all the sights this great country has to offer.  Unless you are going to cross the pond there is no reason not to drive.

I love driving! LOVE it! Mind you, it take more time, and most of the time I find me driving with my nose to the grindstone to get from point A to B.

I recently drove to New Orleans and back. When leaving, we took a side trip to tour the plantations west of the city. Something I NEVER would have done had I flown there. We then went to Biloxi and toured around there and Gulfport and stumbled on things we had not seen or knew were there before.

I'd love to take more side road trips instead of the Interstate highway, but not always time to do so.

Now when I head home to Montana next month, it will be a plane...that's a 4-5 day drive!

Kathy, I like to have a car and the drive doesn't bother me. I have time to think, plan and make calls on my bluetooth.

We make it easy. You make it home.

Kathy...I would rather drive. So much time spent at the airport. You can reach many destinations quicker or with same amount of time as flying. Enjoy Santa Cruz.

Kathy, it depends on the destination. I will fly most of the time, but would drive from Ventura to say San Diego or your area.

Naw I always drive I am comfortable knowing the driver. Pilots that drink all night and fly all day scare me
