My Keller Williams Mega Camp Experience and Active Rain MeetUp

Last week I experienced my first KW Mega Camp.  I traveled all the way from Fort Lauderdale FL to Austin Tx to "Do Less and Achieve More!" This was my first real estate convention EVER! I've only been with Keller Williams for a year and my last firm did not offer any widely attended conventions or learning venues.

Up unitl 2 weeks before KW Mega Camp I was designated as a Buyer's Agent on a Mega Team here in Fort Lauderdale, but the more I read the famous MREA, The Millionaire Real Estate Agent the more the burning desire to step out of the team member role grew. Which is another blog post in an of itself.

I'm no longer on a team, which was an incredible shift, not because I was never an individual agent, but because for the last year of my career, I was a part of a 10 person entourage. That meant always having someone to eat with, book travel with, share a hotel with, and etc. So when the "breakup" happened before Mega Camp so went my planned agenda, hotel room, and travel buddies.

If you're going to attend any KW events, I highly advise you always book in advance because surrounding hotels fill up  and fill up fast! Nonetheless with a week to leave for Austin I scrambled and found a great hotel and convinced myself paying for it without a roommate is well worth the expense of peace and quiet from my husband and kids back home.

Being in the shelter of a team and being newer to my office I didn't really know many agents attending Mega Camp from my office, which I did feel a bit anxious about as I boarding my flight to Austin. I had visions of eating alone and going to bed at 7:30pm because I didn't know anyone in town. It was highschool cafeteria anxiety all over again.

Once I got to Austin and found my way to Mega Camp my apprehension dissipated. KW events are a great place to network, but its also a hard place to approach random strangers. At times I did feel like I was the only person that didn't know every other agent there! Within a day I was meeting new people, mainly new people from my own office that I never had a chance to sit down and talk to before and agents from other areas of Florida. Apparently, I'm a magnet for attracting people from Florida, thank goodness, its a big place!

But there was no bigger welcome than the welcome I received at the Active Rain booth!! It was a pleasure meeting Kerrie and Bob live and in person, Bob by the way wasn't drinking milk. I also met great rainers, too many to mention all here, but I will give a shot out to Ellie McIntire because she bought me a drink while we wore our matching AR T-Shirts. Which we totally rocked! I believe there is a picture somewhere out there from the meet up.

I'm relatively new to AR but the support online and offline is so much like a family! These past weeks have been very challenging for me with transitioning off a team to a single agent and I so appreciated the support of my fellow KW agents and the support of the Active Rain community!

If you see AR meet ups I do strongly suggest you join the fun! The meet ups really help you get motivated about your blogging, trust me there is always a conversation about staying consitant. I love connected for future referral business.

Thank you again Kerrie for organizing the meet up I know it was a challenge with your early mornings at the conference, just know this Rainer really appreciated your efforts. Love you guys!

Amy I am such a loser. I am just now getting back to my blog after trying to implement all the incredible things that I learned in Austin, that I missed this. Mega Camp is a HUGE event and I am still looking over my notes.
