2013 Taste of Newark - Sunday, September 29, 2013 12pm-3pm
Old College Lawn (Rain location is Clayton Hall)
The 'Enjoy Downtown Newark' website describes this event as 'the ultimate foodie event in Newark, DE', and that's a very appropriate description from my experience.
The best flavors in town will be on display at an event that's always a great time. If you like food, or you like wine, or you like both, this is an event you don't want to miss.
Tickets are $45 in advance, $60 at the event and it generally fills up quickly (last I heard a few tickets were still available for pre-order but I'm not sure what the current status is).
The best local chefs and cuisines will be available for sampling, and this year over 50 restaurants and 30+ wineries are expected to be serving up some deliciousness.
Chef David Puser will be on hand serving as special guest Executive Chef for the event.
In addition to the quality eats and drinks, there is also a great fun factor at the Taste of Newark event. This year will be no exception, with celebrity cooking demonstrations and group of local Newark, DE chefs competing in an 'Iron Chef' type competition, vying to see who can whip up the best meals in an hour using a list of secret ingredients. The competitors this year will be Anthony Carnavale II from 16 mile Taphouse, Jeovany Valle from Caffé Gelato, Mark Chopco from Courtyard Newark, Donny Merrill Jr from Skipjack, and Jeff Matyger from Taverna Rustic Italian.
If you're looking for fun around Newark, DE this weekend, the 2013 Taste of Newark is an event you don't want to miss!
