Where is our credibility?

Real Estate Agent with Soleil Real Estate

My wife, who sells men suits in a high end retail store, came home the other day and commented on how much she hates working with real estate agents.  I found that interesting since I have heard that many times before.  I know that in my years as a loan officer the one person that I hated to work with was real estate agents.  I am sure that many of you have seen the lawsuit in California.

see http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/22/business/22agent.html?_r=1&oref=slogin

I am not picking sides on this issue but if the agent truely worked in the interest of the client the I have my doubts that this would have happened.

Dual Agency - Conflict of interest???

It is no wonder that we have such a bad rep.

I have to say that I think a downturn in the market is good for our profession.    First it will get rid of a lot of "bad wood."  Second It will cause some of the premadonnas in the industry to change the way they do things.

Change is inevitable, growth is not.

Mel:

Have to agree about how the declining market is eventually going to "cleanse" us of some of the hacks.  Unfortunately, not all of them.

As for dual agency, I've heard from day one this sage advice:  "Wanna stay out of trouble?  Stay away from dual representation."

I'm anti dual representation!  UNLESS you're in such a small town that's the only way to go.
