Do you ever take a mental health break? Do you give yourself permission to do so? You should! When you get back to work, you'll be more effective, work quicker and with more heart.
After working 60+ hour weeks, 2 weeks in a row, 7 days a week, I need a break, and I'm taking a few hours off today.
Last week a sale fell through completely unexpectedly (I'll tell you more at a later time) so I scrambled to get it back on the market immediately, worked the phones, received 2 offers, held the house open again both Saturday and Sunday, resurrected one of the earlier offers, and had an accepted contract late last night -- no contingencies of any kind -- works for my seller.
This morning I've:
- negotiated an Addendum changing the offer terms of the sale;
- finalized a buyer's offer and have submitted a complete package to the listing agent
- handled a release of funds authorization and got a refund on its way to another seller
- and the usual barrage of phone calls, emails, etc.
I just stopped for lunch and realize that I'm mentally done for a few hours!! So, I've given myself permission to watch today's America's Cup races. It stands New Zealand 8, USA 6 - first team to reach 9 takes the Cup. Should Team USA win 2 races today, it will be 8-8, and tomorrow will definitely decide it. No matter what happens, Oracle Team USA has made an incredible comeback. I'm watching the tops of the sails from my window, and watching the race on my iPad while I treat myself to some artisan cheese, hazelnuts, peppered salame, and fresh juice!
I'll get back to work around 3:00, refreshed, recharged and ready to carry on.
Give yourself permission to be nice to yourself when you need to be!
