Some agents will always end up on top...

By
Commercial Real Estate Agent with Doyno Realty

Why is this? Perhaps they work harder, perhaps they work smarter, or perhaps they do both! BUT...

Do they know something others don't? Are they more into technology? Do they have a vast SOI?

What is the key to success?

Location, luck, their team.......?

Can anyone enlighten me please?

Those that start out with the mindset to win and hold on to it and not give in to the negative drama around them will stay in the game long after all others have drooped out and thats the winner

Most of the time it is their attitude! People who have the menatl game nailed do well in any circumstances because they know it isn't about what is out there!

Hi, Paul.  Excellent question.  They say 20% of the agents do 80% of the work.  I believe that here in our local market.  Folks use the same few agents more than the rest of the agents combined then complain about bad customer service, the inability to reach the agent, the agent disappearing after sticking a sign in the yard and the list goes on and on.  Yet they keep calling them to come on over and sign that agreement over a cup of coffee.  I believe that if I keep doing what I am doing to make sure my reputation is good and I am known as a personable and ethical agent, it will pay off over time.  I will be in that 20% of agents some day!  Good luck to you!

Patience, perseverance, hard-work, great attitude, dedication, commitment, diligence, being positive, and staying focused.  These are just some of the reasons, I think, why some agents do well.  Remember your attitude determines your altitude.

I have been in the top 20% since my first year,,,and I am going on my 20 year,,,,it is called working,,,not sitting around waiting for the phone to ring,,,too many agents expect the company they work for, too help them get the business,,,you have to get off your butt and go get it,,,,

thank-you one and all for your replies.

i am a commercial realtor and work anywhere between 80-100 hours a week.

i have decided to cut my workload a little in that area and am considering using my 'techniques' in residential and will probably give referrals to our residential team (if they match up to what i expect from them)! i might even have to learn to sell houses!

i want motivated people who have good people skills and a want to succeed. That is me to a 'T'

i'm pleased to hear hard work comes out top. i can do hard work.

good luck everyone!

They definitely have to work harder in this market!  Have to agree with Joeann, it's attitude!

Paul,

I believe it is attitude to achieve. I find that having a business plan, and breaking the detail down to transactions and dollars per month and then measuring where I am by week, keeps my mind on the goal and purpose of being a Realtor. This provides me the drive and initiative and momentum. I started this 4 years ago when I became a Realtor. I consistently do between 20 and 30 transactions a year, 6-10 mil in sales! MY business plan is what helps me to be successful.
