When Do Fall Leaves Peak In New Mexico?

When Do Fall Leaves Peak In New Mexico john mccormack mccormick realtor real estate albuquerque nm

Weather in New Mexico varies due to altitude so the fall leaves change and peak at different times in our state.

In Northern New Mexico the leaves normally peak the first of October.  In and around the Albuquerque area we enjoy fall peaking color from the second and third week of October.  For Southern Albuquerque down around Carlsbad that area of NM normally see’s fall peak color the end of October into the first of November.

You can always call the NM National Forest Service if you are wanting to enjoy NM during the peak season this Fall.  They are great about offering information on which area and trails are in full Fall color.

That cowboy looks familiar? Is that you?  If so, you must have enjoyed that ride along a magnificent trail ablaze in fall color. The rain and wind are what can often ruin our show - hoping they don't this year.

That's a great picture!  I love seeing the contrast of green and brown leaves - the transition from summer to fall.  This is one of my favorite times of year as temps drop and leaves fall.

Hi John,

The fall leaves changing colors is one thing I do miss by living here. I really do not think we have much of a change if at all. Enjoy the this fall season and sell some homes but then again you folks could proabbly take the rest of the year off.

If you folks dress up as Wizard of Oz charcters plaese take pictures and post those as we all want to see them!

Honesty, Integrity, Results, Experienced. HIRE Me!

Glad to see everyone and appreciate you dropping by to check out when the New Mexico leave peak.  We are suppose to be having our first real chill of Fall this weekend so it won't be long until we see changes in the landscape.

The photo was taken on the Fourth of July Trail.  Debbie and I take this full day hike yearly to enjoy the color of NM.  If we go during the week there's not many people.  When and if you make it to the very top of the trail you can see forever in all directions.  Worth each step of the way!  This is wilderness country so if you take this complete hike make sure you keep an eye out for wildlife big and small.

John love the photo.  It is always with great anticioation that we await the leaves.  I see them turning here too.

Like in your area, the altitude does affect how soon the leaves change.
