Waco, Travel To/From/Around

If you are not driving your own car to Waco, you may want to know other ways to get into/out and around town.

Getting TO or FROM Waco

Flying

My favorite mode of transportation in out of Waco is Waco Regional Airport. It's the most convenient method I can think of. Flights fly from Waco to connecting flights in either Houston or Dallas by means of either American Eagle or Continental Connection.

Many people choose to fly through other airports like Dallas, Houston, Killeen, Austin and San Antonio. But I find that it's not worth the hassle, not worth the lower ticket fare (if in fact it is lower). Just my personal preference. Think of the time, gas and other costs you might incur including parking and rental car fees to gage whether you will really save if you use another airport. Sure, there are always exceptions to the rules, but for me, nothing beats a plane ticket right from or to Waco.  The best thing about arriving or flying out of airports is that we have several to choose from with Waco being such a centralized location.

Please note that there is a shuttle service that transports passengers to/from DFW and Dallas Love Field. Please visit their website for details and pricing. Waco Streak

Note: I've found the best pricing to be on the American Airlines and Continental Airlines Online sites.  But as with anything, it usually does pay to shop around whether using other online resources or local Travel Agencies.  I do travel probably at least twice a year by air and keep my eye on prices in a continuous maner. Fares have a tendency to change frequently, but the closer you get to your travel date, they can go up dramatically.

Train

Amtrak does have a station located in McGregor, TX.  Just  a few minutes away from Waco. I've never used this method, but if you prefer to go/come by Train. Make sure you look at their Website and/or call for more information if you are traveling by train.

Bus

Greyhound has a local station right in Downtown Waco on 8th Street. Again, this is not a method I have personally used but is available to those who prefer Bus over other transportation.

Hey Wendy, this post is so cute, and it looked lonesome :).  Everytime I see you name, and post I smile thinking about my 10 year old nephew saying, "Wako"...I did tell you about that?  Liz

Wendy:

Great localism post.  I like your presentation and format, use of graphics, too.  Thanks for sharing... :)

Liz-Yep, you told me about your nephew. How funny and cute. Wako Waco! Thanks for stopping in.

Jan-Thanks for the note. Figured people might like more information about Waco transportation. I love flying in and out of our local airport vs other options.

Wendy, That's a lot of good information.  I didn't know there was a decent sized airport in Waco. It's only an hour and a half drive from here, so never thought about it and assumed people drove up to DFW for flights.

Hi Donna-glad you dropped by. Thank you for commenting. I am not sure a lot of people realize we have a good airport here. I think more and more are learning though, because according to their website, passenger travel is up.
