Today I was showing acreage to clients in some rather remote areas in Santa Cruz county (Tubac, Sonoita and Patagonia) when I saw a staked sign (placed strategically amongst the directionals that real estate agents were using to direct people to their various properties).  The sign was for High-Speed Internet service via satellite and a phone number.

Knowing the area we were looking in (as well as those I have other clients checking out) has limited phone and internet service through traditional means, I thought it would be prudent to get some info on this offering.

When I got home this evening, the service provider sent me an email that really made me get a good initial feeling about providing his contact information to now and future clients who might benefit from his service:

Hello Kent - I was working in Arivaca & out of cell range when you called today.
Satellite internet is a good choice if you are unable to connect to a land based source of high speed internet.

Satellite internet is not competitive with land based high speed internet
Satellite internet has limitations unique to any other source of high speed service. To explain the differences as a category and between the various providers would take many pages to cover

I do have some good info on my web site (that has not been updated to reflect the 2 year contract now in effect) A conversation is the best way usually, to discuss the details

Depending on the needs of you and the other members of your network, can drastically influence what product and plan would best meet your needs

I can explain, in a real world manner rather than repeating what is on the brochure

I specialize in satellite internet, it is all I do everyday

I am southern Arizona's only Premier Dealer, I know the product well and encourage all my customers to use me as tech support with no strings attached

Call me at your convenience and I will address all your questions

What struck me is the honesty about limitations and setting expectations at a realistic level for potential users.  Not a bunch of hype, overblown promises or hooks to entice someone, just straightforward information.  I look forward to speaking with Bob in the morning!

By the way--his website is just as straightforward as his email.

It's refreshing to hear such "down to earth" marketing.  Thanks for passing his message along and pointing out the value of honest communication.
