Fall Leaves

Charlotte area's Indian Land Fall Festival is back this Saturday, September 28th! The original idea behind the Indian Land Fall Festival some eight years ago, was to gather Indian Land families to celebrate the end of summer and beginning of fall. With Indian Land sitting right on the border of North and South Carolina and being surrounded by Fort Mill, Ballantyne, Waxhaw, Pineville, south Charlotte, the festival has become a major event in the area and in recent years, as many as 10,000 people have attended. Also known as the "Fall Into Fun Festival" the event is organized by the Indian Land Rotary Club.

The Indian Land Fall Festival has something for everyone:

  • The South Carolina State Championship Chili Cookoff, sanctioned by the Chili Appreciation Society International (CASI). Top finishers in South Carolina can qualify to compete in the international competition in Terlingua, Texas. All monies raised at the chili cookoff will go to Rotary-sponsored charities in the Indian Land Area.

  • 5K Run/Walk, which is actually being held on Friday, September 27th at 7pm. Here's the link to register for the 5K event.

  • Classic Car Show, sponsored by the Indian Land Rotary Club and Dixie Land Cruisers of Rock Hill, SC. REgistration is from 9am till 12pm on Saturday, September 28th with a $20 entry fee.

  • Children's events, which will include inflatable bouncers, corn hole games, rock wall, pony rides and a putt-putt course. The Carolinas Panthers' mascot, Sir Purr, is also expected to make an appearance at the festival.

  • Nationally known Story Tellers will make their first appearance at the Indian Land Fall Festival this year as well, sponsored by the Carolinas Literacy Network.

Location: City of Light at 3000 World Reach Drive in Indian Land just off of Hwy 521

Cost: Free, with small fees for chili tasting and the kids area. Donations for parking and/or attendance appreciated

Time: 10:00 am till 3:00 pm

Nina, I have never heard of anywhere else celebrating the end of Summer and beginning of Fall, but I think it is a great idea.

George... you know our summers are very hot. Our fall is probably like your summer, so when weather starts cooling down and its sunny and dry... we really look forward to our fall.
