Hunters....ask Permission!

By

There are confrontations every year because of people trespassing.

For some odd reason, people think they can go where ever the please.

There are laws and they pertain to everyone, not just hunters.

I am seeing more and more signs like these going up.

Sad part, the poster may not be kidding.

Save your life and ask.  You may find you get permission and with a little finesse, you may gain a friend in the process.

Hello William,  I will say, many years ago, I use to hunt alot but I always made it a point to knock on a door and ask if I could hunt on their land.

I am always surprised that there are not more hunting accidents,  perhaps they are not all accidents.

I don't generally see this type of sign around Atlanta.

William, The arrogance of some hunters never ceases to amaze me. I know some folks in my home state of Georgia that will shoot you if you are on their land.

Great reminder, I know a few folks who will follow the warning on this sign too.  On my land I do encourage hunters to shoot as many deer as possible, but I do appreciate it when they ask permission and let me know who and when they will be out there.

Bill, we have a hunt club that rents out the land behind me. They scare the heck out of me, and they drive up my driveway like lunatics on fire. Hit  my dog one time. And speaking of dogs, about twice a month one will knock on my door because they lost their dog while hunting.

Yesterday I heard multiple gunshots in the field behind me. I doubt the person who was in there had permission. And it makes me very, very angry.

Nothing ruins hunting like the people who trespass where ever they want with no reguard to others property.

WE will consider letting people hunt when they ask.  Depends on if we have livestock in the area at the time.

I have no problem with the people dove hunting on the properties on either side of us (and neither do my horses or any of the other livestock - they clearly don't even notice).  I know this has been going on for generations and I'm fine with it.

However, assuming that you can hunt on someone else's land without their permission can get you in big trouble down here in Texas.  Ask, and you'll likely get permission (unless they are using the land for hunting leases or hunting themselves).  But why some folks think trespassing is fine if you're hunting, I don't know.
