Ireland * Tribute To Embracing Free Markets Creating Peace And Prosperity*

I could not think of a more fitting time to honor and pay tribute to Ireland,
a country that has embraced a free market and low taxes in order to create peace and prosperity. When people make money, start businesses and express multi talents in entrepreneur attitudes people lay down their arms, they get together to embrace their differences and stop bombing and killing each other. When people make money, they can embrace a better lifestyle and nothing can be more profound than for a country that truly has emerged from famine to prosperity beyond any stretch of the imagination. Countries watch on in bewilderment as Ireland has now created more millionaires than in any other European country sparked by the new found drive within when people see what life has to offer, when they can feed their children and send their sons and daughters off to colleges and Universities based not on government handouts but on the fruits of their own labors.

Ireland embraces free market

When Ireland took to handshaking instead of bombing they began to look at their economy and decided to stimulate it through lowering taxes, relieving high tariffs and thus attracting foreign investment within Ireland. You hear all this talk about how the U.S. is investing money in India and China however the American companies invest more direct money into Ireland than they do in India and China combined.

I am half Irish and have a deep pride in my ancestry.
I am honored to take this time of the month in which we celebrate St Patrick's day to honor the amazing progress of this small country that is accomplishing great things. Many Americans are in love with Ireland and thus the tourist industry has flourished. There are new flights being added to Ireland from many parts of the U.S. To visit Ireland and bask in it's rich history is on many Americans vacation planning lists, those with Irish roots and also those without Irish roots. Of course, if you love golf, then this is the premier destination to test your skills. You can even rent out a Castle for you and your family to stay in for a few nights. Ancient romance coming to life amidst the modern conveniences Ireland relishes in today.

Ireland is a great model for all countries to look upon who are struggling with their markets and restraining free trade and free markets
. The one thing that above all the restriction of people to move freely and to express their talents and contributions to the society causes is extreme poverty which then results in fighting amongst each other from within. Nations who have fascist governments and even socialistic governments create apathy among their people. When one can not longer exersice their own agency as a result of some entity above them pushing them down it is no wonder they begin to fight about religion, economics and social models. No one can ever convince me that money doesn't matter. We see by living both sides of Ireland that this surely does happen. If you want fighting to stop in countries then teach them to farm and teach them to create their own businesses. Entrepreneurship is the awakening of one's abilities, talents and purpose. This is true freedom. As long as there are hand outs and the embracing of humiliating humankind with social programs that only perpetuate the complacency and loss of dignity; the end result is the loss of purpose and in that loss of purpose the people degrade themselves and feel worthless. When this happens life no longer matters and life is considered expendable over petty arguments and spontaneous rages.

There is a great lesson to be learned from Ireland's past and present, from their famine to their prosperity.
Abundance has been introduced to Ireland's people and lucky clovers abound today in this beautiful green country. May we ever be grateful as Americans of our freedom to make our own choices. There is always a choice and here we live in the most abundant country in the whole entire world through which others countries model their markets after. Here you can start with nothing and make something out of yourself. Let us celebrate our love for our country and welcome Ireland into our fold.

Join in Celebrating St Patrick's Day with thoughts of gratitude for all that we have and all that we have to share with the world. Celebrate our freedom and our choices.

Ireland happy face Potof gold

I am also of Irish heritage and believe this is a great blog. Maybe I'm biased in my opinion, but I love to hear about Ireland and celebrating St. Patrick's Day. It's also my birthday.

I'm not Irish but I love the people and everything ever read about the country. Already have my Saint Patricks pin.

For the last several years I pick  St Pat"s themed lottery tickets and send them to my past clients. Always get a call thanking me.

Nice Post.

Wow. Fantastic. America is full of lazy, negative, entertainment whor_s who just want to be fed and catered too and then blame it on someone else. Eating the rich will make everyone poor. Katerina this is an absolutely fantastic glimpse outside of our own sheltered borders ... and minds.

American politics should tale a look on how Ireland came out of famine to feast on democracy and freedoms that we hold dear.

Lower taxes and free enterprise is the key to any country's economic growth.

Thank you for your great post.

Ken- I felt very good about writing this post. It was empowering to see that there are those who want to follow our free enterprise and the wonderful life of prosperity Ireland enjoys now after such a history of famine, death and fighting. To come this far so fast, all because they embraced lower taxes and free enterprise. Hmmm... I wonder if this is a message to our country.

Nicholas- Embracing free enterprise and lower taxes, encouraging business growth, empowering their people to make money and work. Ireland has the lowest unemployment rate in all of Europe. While other European country people are getting hand outs and getting paid to be unemployed, Ireland is flourishing, the people want to work and they want to be successful. They pay for their own way and what pride you feel as a human when you can do that.

Katerina - you don't have to drink to enjoy an Irish pub. They have an atmosphere that is unique and has nothing to do with alcohol. Well OK, maybe a little. :)

Well - the Celtic Tiger is a result of having no infrastructure because the Irish had cut their nose off to spite their face.  Since they had no infracture and basically destroyed English Railways and melted the iron into metal fences etc... they were in perfect position for rebuilding from scratch with all the new technology the rest of the world is basically trying to keep up with and deal with obsolete infrastructures they're trying to incorporate. (switching regular cable to fiber optic etc... without disturbing service etc... just one example)  In other words Ireland in the 80's was pretty much like the United States during the industrial revolution.  We had no infrastructure like Europe after world war I, so while the rest of the world was retooling and not embracing technology the United States was in perfect position to do so and profited from doing so.

So the Celtic Tiger (Ireland's economy) is more a result of lucking into it or being at the right place at the right time.  Can't really claim genius here on that account.  I'm Irish by the way.  So is my wife.  Two of my four daughters are Champion Irish dancers, and one, I'm proud to say will be competing at the World Championships in Belfast at the end of this month.

By the way.  While "arms have been laid down," the south still considers the north England.  And England barely recognizes the south even when it comes to the daily weather forecast.  The weatherman will stand in front of the south and talk about the weather on the English/Protestant side - North.  Most people in their 30's and 40's in Ireland are embracing their prosperity, which is why it's been easier to let go of the past.  However here's the kicker.  Those in the South who have embraced the Celtic Tiger economy have leveraged their finances like 2/3's of the American population.  So while your praising Ireland say a prayer for them as well, for they're in line to repeat the very same thing we have done here when it comes to income to debt ratios and leveraging their homes which have seen huge rates of increase.  A friend of our purchased their home 10 years ago for 85,000 Euro and it's worth almost a 800,000 Euro today.

What can happen here is the Sterling still being stronger than the Euro is that the English could end up buying back southern Ireland.  You think that might open some old wounds?  I love Ireland.  I want to see the country prosper for as long as I live, but I want them to learn from us. Also I want anyone reading this post to understand that once again the US Dollar has a great deal to do with the success of the Euro and has a great impact on it.  Ask anyone in the European union.  Unfortunatly the people in Ireland have been huge fans of the Democratic party, (brain washed from media) and many homes in Ireland today have a photo of John F. Kennedy hanging in their living rooms.

I could go on and on with this topic but I just thought I'd lend a different perspective.

Ireland is a wonderful place.  We went to enjoy the scenery, the heritage and to meet family.    And you can't miss the energy of the people.   We loved Dublin & Galway.   We loved it all!

The place is boomin' & I guess after 600 years of fighting they deserve it !

Teri- Thanks so much for your comment. I have done all my Latvian geneology back to many many generations because we had a wonderful family tree all the way back to my 10 times great grandfather. But on my father's side, the Irish side I did a little, however my X was so into only doing his that he never supported me in doing mine. It was always about his side, which is Irish and Scottish and some German. I will get back to it all again once my son is more on his own with his school lessons.
