Clearwater Florida's Super Boat International Race & Seafood Festival Weekend is here! Yes, the international boat race is taking place off shore from Clearwater Beach on Sunday but the boats started arriving yesterday and we saw several of them since we had taken the day off to get some fishing in.
Naturally, there are numerous vendors set up in Coachman Park since this is the site of the Baystar Race Village. It is also the site where the public can come to see the race boats, get autographs from the drivers and enjoy fantastic seafood from local restaurants. There will be live entertainment and with this wonderful weather in the 80's, you can be sure there will be a large turnout.
Saturday evening there will be a fireworks display out on Clearwater Beach to celebrate the weekend's events. Saturday evening there will also be plenty of live entertainment on Cleveland Street in downtown Clearwater as well as a VIP Party from 10 pm to 3 am over at Shephard's Restaurant on Clearwater Beach.
The actual races take place on Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm and tickets will be sold directly at Pier 60 on Clearwater Beach. Heat 1 begins at 12 noon and Heat 2 starts at 2 pm. The awards ceremony is scheduled to begin at 4:30.
In addition to all of that, there will be a Hilton Deck Party beginning at 11 am at the Hilton Resort and the Hyatt Regency is offering VIP viewings of the race from the top of their 8th floor Vista Terrace. The Miss Clearwater Super Boat Corona Girl Pageant kicks off at 4 pm at the Shephard Beach Resort on Clearwater Beach.
Needless to say, there is plenty going on this weekend here in beautiful Clearwater Florida and our marinas are full of luxury yachts that have come into town for the races!
