The Durham Fair 2013 was held this past weekend, and it was a beautiful sun filled weekend for it. The Durham Fair always draws a big crowd, and this weekend was no different.
My family and I went Friday night. We normally go on Saturday so we can see some of the daytime activities like the tracker pull and cow pull, but Friday was the only day we could all get together. As usual I pigged out on food, and enjoyed seeing the many animal and craft exhibits there. My favorite was at the first craft building we went into which had the display for all of the desert entered at the Fair this year. My favorites among the desert entries were the cake made to look like a hamburger with fries, and the ginger bread farm. I have pictures of both towards the end of the pictures I posted below.
The Durham Fair had several activities and performances planned for this weekend, with Justin Turner being the main featured star. As you will see from the pictures below there was everything you would expect to find at a Fair. There was food, rides, exhibits, and games to go along with all the other activities I have already mentioned.
The Durham Fair was started in 1916, and is now the largest agricultural fair in Connecticut. Through the years the Durham Fair has contributed in many ways to the Durham community, such as:
- Awarded over $500,000 in academic scholarships since 1966?
- Made charitable donations totaling over $50,000 since 1996?
- Made repairs to the Durham Library and major contributions to the library building projects?
- Purchased the Durham Fire Company's first Jaws of Life?
Below are some of the many pictures I took while we were at the Durham Fair 2013 Friday night, I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed taking them.
