Adding photos to ActiveRain blogs

Clarksville real estate professional Debbie Reynolds offers some practical instructions on how to add photographs to ActiveRain blogs so the text will wrap. Some of us need to practice this.

Please go to the original blog if you wish to leave comments that will be seen by Debbie.

Adding photos so your text will wrap is a little more complicated than before. This will show how you can add photos and get them to wrap around the text. With the challenges in ActiveRain with the new editor, first let me suggest that you use Google Docs to write your post. All you need to have is a Gmail account and you can have Google Docs. Write your post, check the spelling and then copy it over by highlighting your post, then use Control C to copy and when you are in ActiveRain Write a Blog, Control V will paste it into the blog.

I have discovered if you previously wrote a post in draft then ActiveRain has recorded that original draft date and when you publish it, it will be filed in the blog roll at that original draft date or at least mine are. That is a huge problem if you wrote it months ago and have saved it. You will not find it come up currently on the roll. I hope they will fix this as it just doesn't work. You can overcome this by copying it all over to a new post to publish and delete the old one.

To insert a photo, click on the landscape icon next to the chain on the blog editor menu bar and go to the top left corner of the window that pops up. Click on the plus sign then click on Drop in or upload. Then upload a photo and go back one page to your photo files where you will be selecting the one to put in your blog. In the blog editor your cursor can be at the left margin or the right margin of the page on the line where you would like the photo to insert.

Style window for photoNow one way is that you can go ahead add the photo, size the photo, put in your margins. When it inserts it will not be where you want it or with the text wrapped. So all you have to do is click on the photo, either left hand justify, center justify or right hand justify from the choices on your blog editor menu bar. The text wraps around the photo and looks nice.

Another way to do it is to go into the Style line and add ; Float: left; Float: Center; Float: Right. This will justify it too. So either method is working fine for me right now. You can check your work by clicking on the eye on the editor menu to see how it will look.

I hope by writing in Google Docs you will have less frustration with spelling and writing and losing your posts and by justifying your photos your text will wrap.
