This weekend my boyfriend and I took our two dogs camping for the FIRST time! As many of you know we have a little Jack Russel/Chihuahua mix named Marshall and a rowdy Jack Russel/Blue Heeler mix PUPPY named Gypsy. Our smaller dog, Marshall, is kind of a scardy cat and we were not sure how he would do being in the great outdoors - needless to say, he LOVED it! Gypsy was flabbergasted and was the first one to roll in the dirt, climb up the rocks, and jump in the lake!
Saturday morning, after the Friday night freeze melted down, we loaded up our truck and headed to Carter Lake Camping Grounds. With both dogs in tow we made the hour long journey with excitement and thrill! We had not been camping for some time and were so looking forward to some peace and quiet.
Walks on the “beach”, hikes on the mountain trails, watching sailboats breeze by, sitting by the cozy fire and trying to count the millions of stars were just a few of the agenda items.
Carter Lake Camping Grounds definitely earned its stars – it was not as remote as some of the trips we have taken but it was the perfect weekend get-away! When we came home yesterday both dogs were a bit forlorn, as were we! This is just incentive to make sure and get back out there soon!
