This post was inspired by one written recently by Debe Maxwell in which she reiterated what has
been said by many of us..... It's not about the points!
I not only agree but hope she shouts it to the rooftop.
When I began at ActiveRain it took me about 4 months before I realized that there were points involved. I was enjoying reading the different posts here. I marveled at the amount of information that was here….. for free. No cards or forms to fill out. No, subscribe here and you will receive endless emails.
Whether it was reading about how to market using postcards or how to embed a photo in a blog; how to recognize bad wiring in a home or choose the right paint color for your living room, the community has always been a hub of freely given information.
But more than that it is the Exchange of information. You can go to other blogging communities but nowhere to my knowledge can you find the active giving and exchanging of comments and opinions.
Don’t get me wrong, the points are motivators for all of us. Most people in sales are motivated by winning or being #1 in something, or being the best. Being competitive is part of what makes you successful.
However, the next time you’re evaluating your success here at ActiveRain or comparing how you’re doing versus someone else in your state, try looking at another indicator.
You can’t measure it with points, and ActiveRain can’t give them to you in one of their contests or challenges.
SEO aside, the best measures of success at ActiveRain are :
~the number of people you call “my ActiveRain Friend”
~ the number of people at AR you know you could call for an answer to a question.
~ the number of places you’ve “visited” via your AR friends
~ the number of AR members you turn to each and every morning to check in with them via their post.
Take another look at your ActiveRain success indicators….
Unlike points, you CAN take these to the bank.
