Dogs on the Beach on Anna Maria Island
Dogs on the Beach on Anna Maria Island – We are here to answer your questions about Living on Anna Maria Island. Today’s topic is dogs on the beach. Visitors and new residents to Anna Maria Island want to know if they can bring their dogs to the beaches on Bradenton Beach, Holmes Beach and Anna Maria. These 3 cities all on Anna Maria Island have local ordinances prohibiting dogs on the beach. Dogs are permitted on a leash throughout the island, just not on the beaches. The reason we have heard is to protect the bird and sea turtle nesting areas along the beaches.
The good news for dog lovers is that there is a Dog Park on Anna Maria Island. The dog park is located behind the Fire House on Marina Drive in Holmes Beach near 60th St.
People also like to take their dogs and horses to the beaches on the Palma Sola Causeway. It’s off of Manatee Ave coming from Bradenton onto Anna Maria Island. It’s a great place for fishing, watching the dolphins splash in the water and picnicking.
Robinson’s Preserve in Bradenton is over the Manatee Avenue bridge coming from Anna Maria Island. There is a 487 acre preserve with hiking, nature trails and a kayak or canoe launch. This is also a great place to go stand up paddle boarding. Be sure to bring water for your dog and yourself. You can also access the trails from the Manatee Ave. entrance just past Perico Bay Club on the north side. The main entrance is located at 1704 99th St. NW, Bradenton 34209.
