We are officially in our final quarter of 2013.

Many folks will report that business has been GOOD this year.

Even so, there’s still a fair amount trepidation when considering the future.

News of a “Government Shut-down” swirls around the media world, and we all wonder how that might affect us, our business, our way of life?

I cannot answer any of those questions.

What I can do is extend an invitation to you to scare the hell out of yourself this month.

Yep!

Tis the month of Halloween, so what better month than this to pick up a new habit of scaring yourself?

Seth Godin wrote a post today Decoding Art which dives into something to which I have alluded many times in the recent past.

If we’re going to “make it” in this economic environment, we need to focus on “practicing our ART.”

What this means is that we each have unique, NICHE talents/Expertise and for us to continue to thrive, we MUST work on our personal art form rather than conforming to the banal requirements of “the JOB”

If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away. Henry David Thoreau quotes 

Practicing your art is not much more than step to the beat of your own inner drummer.

This is SCARY stuff because it requires us to step outside of “normal.”

I’m here to suggest that NOW – OCTOBER 1, 2013 – is the OPTIMAL time to CRANK UP YOUR VOLUME!

Go ahead!

Doing this your way and taking ownership of your life (destiny) is scary stuff yet oh-so-liberating because we all thrive on the thrill of CREATING something . . . ANYTHING!
