For only the third time this year, from July to August, we saw the number of new listings actually decrease. I am anticipating the same sort of numbers in September due to the fact that buyers have seen reduced inventory and therefore run into multiple offer situations more frequently. What this means for sellers is an increase in the sale price they recieve vs their original list price. Sellers received 96.6% of their original asking price in August 2013, up 1.45% from last year.

The average sale price in August for homes was $241,538. The sale prices increased by 1.87% from the previous month.
