Live good. Be happy. Quote #12

By
Managing Real Estate Broker with eXp Realty

"If you keep on saying things are going to be bad, you have a good chance of becoming a prophet."

Isaac Bashevis Singer

Live good. Be happy. Economics

Funny thing about economics...they are 'prophetic'.  Economics seem to stem from a collective belief system.  And, BOY, are we doing a bang-up job of making our current economic atmosphere 'true'.  I simply can't turn on a tv or radio without being bombarded by bad news.  Scary words like 'recession' and 'economic downturn' are every other word being spoken.  UGH!  Unfortunately, the media's negative propeganda will eventually swell as a collective belief system. (I have even gone so far as to only listen to Canadian news!  It is so much more balanced!)

I think that all of us, as agents, need to step out to 'collectively' try to offset the media's doom and gloom.

Live good. Be happy. BELIEVE the glass is 1/2 FULL!!

If you are busy doing the marketing, listing, promotion of your area and property, you don't notice the nag of some that are sitting on their hands speculating on if we are in a recession, when the recession will end, blah blah blah recession this, poor that.  Get to work, work your market differently, creatively and don't beat the end of the world, chicken little drum. It is negative, wears folks down and is not constructive. No one likes a whiner.  Make a game to prosper in whatever market.  There are farmers that make money every year...diversified, start another sister business, belt tighten, shift spending but plan to thrive, exisit and stay in the market working hard to get the biggest piece of it you can! Don't sit on your hands and wait for anyone, anything, anytime! Good post!

I totally agree. It is up to us to make a difference. If you read the negatives in the paper and listen to people negative thoughts and listen to the news, it can get you down. I just do not believe all of the stuff I see and read. I look for the positive in everything. Thanks for posting that.

I'm with you on this one.  Pasadena, CA is only about 1% down in what the national media is calling the worst market ever in recorded history (what can I say?  as long as we have good weather and the movies, people will keep moving here!), and I still have buyers wondering why they can't get $100,000 off asking.  The glass is more than half full here!
