Operation Christmas in Crofton, Maryland
Holiday Gift Bags for Deployed Troops
It's time again to think Christmas, even though many of us haven't yet taken out the Halloween decorations. That's because the holiday gift bags must be shipped first to Operation Give in Salt Lake City and then prepared for distribution to deployed troops. So, ladies and gentlemen, please take out your Santa hats and help us fill these holiday gift bags.
Every bag will contain toiletries, candy, healthy snacks, dental care products, a unique gift, a fun gift, a puzzle book and mechanical pencil, wipes, tissues, socks, a holiday card and assorted miscellaneous items such as safety pins and 2-packs of aspirin. Martha Johnson is keeping track of what's been received or pledged, so check with her during normal business hours at (410) 721-1500 before you buy anything. Items can be dropped off at Long & Foster Real Estate, 2191 Defense Highway, Crofton, MD 21114.
If you'd like to contribute to this project but don't have time to shop, that's okay... we have volunteers who will go buy what's missing after all the donations are in and counted. There's always something we still need. Martha can tell you how to make a donation.
To date, since I first organized this effort in 2007, we've sent over 1000 pounds of holiday gift bags to Operation Give for distribution to deployed U.S. troops. Crofton is a military-friendly community who always comes through for any effort to support our troops. We know we can count on you again in 2013.
P.S. You don't have to live or work in Crofton to participate. We can't do this without contributions from many people, including you!
