Was It Worth Your Time?

And will it be worth mine? If you read my last post, you know I am a "newbie" here on AR. Here's the thing - I'm also new to the whole blogging and online social networking thing in general. I realize that to make it work, you've got to be active and participate (duh).

So I created a profile the other day on MyBlogLog, and once I started making my way through the profile creation process, I realized how far behind I was! There's an exhaustive list of platforms blogs sites argh, whatever they're called, that I'm instructed to fill in to "acheive profile zen". Even though it seems daunting, something tells me that this will be beneficial to building my online presence. Plus, all of those blank spots make me nervous, and besides, I really want to get my profile zenned out.

So if you're as lost as I am you can stop reading now.

But, if you have any insight into which of these would be worth my time, please help a girl out! Here's the list:

Bebo
Blogger
Del.icio.us
Digg
Facebook
Flickr
FriendFeed
Friendster
Jaiku
Jumpcut
Kiva
Last.fm
LinkedIn
LiveJournal
Multiply
MySpace
OpenID
Pownce
SecondLife
Shelfari
StumbleUpon
Technorati
Textamerica
30Boxes
Trulia
Tumblr
Twitter
TypeKey
Upcoming
Wakoopa
Wink
Yelp
YouTube
Zillow
Zorpia

Whew! That's all of them (in alphabetical order). Some I've signed up for already, some seem like an obvious waste of professional time, and some I have no idea about. So please, if you are even a little bit blog, internet, or tech savvy, help me out!

Welcome to A.R.

I think each of those sites offers someting different based on the kind of business you do.  (I'm not a big fan of Trulia though...there seems to be quite a bit of inaccurate and misinformation there).  Facebook and Youtube are good ways to appeal to a whole different type of client.

Welcome, I am fairly new here also. I am also new to the whole blog/ online networking thing like myspace. You are right it seems pretty overwhelming, but I am just taking it slow and building things as I go.

Candis...

If I were to pick the most important ones...

I would pick Face Book, Twitter and You Tube.

Keep in mind that for me You Tube is my fun time.

Kinda like AR is my fun time :)

TLW...ROAR!

Candis- I want to say thank you......you and Misty put your New Marketing Idea into play this week, and I am the guinea pig :) :)  Anyway, I didn't realize you were an AR member when we were emailing back and forth.....that being said I would say start with one, then move out later :) And since you are new....let me say Welcome.....you guys have a lot to offer, and I would love to see you join the e-PRO Technology Group, and put your technology and marketing posts in there :)

Anyway, I will let you guys know how the Virtual Open House works out....I posted on it today.

Hi Candis

Here are the sites from your list that I would pay the most attention to in terms of social networking:

Blogger

Flickr

YouTube

Technorati

Stumbleupon

Facebook

Digg

Del.icio.us

Twitter

YouTube

Trulia

MySpace - traffic levels justify, just harder to connect with the right people.

Have fun!
