Are you being innovative?

With a possible recession looming over the horizon and dismal sales in many parts of the country, some Realtors are thriving.  How can this be? What are they doing that is different than other Realtors who are leaving the business?

The answer is simple,  they are being innovative!

They are doing various things that other Realtors are not.  Some are finding niche markets, such as REO's, BPO's, or specializing in short sales. While others are getting back to the basics and focusing on Search Engine Optimization. The best thing for you to do is very dependant upon your market.

The key thing for you is to find out what techniques that the successful people in the market are using and copying them, or find your own niche.

You need to find ways to get people's attention. Be active. The Realtor that sits back and lets others take the lead is a Realtor that will soon be out of business. Specialize in the neighborhoods that you work in, and know the types of houses.

People are doing different things and for each part of the country the thing that works in one area may not be successful elsewhere. Find out what works in your area and get your name out there.

Excellent advice!  Now is not the time to scale back or sit back.  Now is the time to really get your name out there. Take on a marketing project that you had on the back-burner.  Do something!

When things tighten up we all want to crawl back into our caves and wait for the storm to pass. You starve that way!

I agree with both of you. You have to get clients and get your name out there.

Well said ~ If you are not doing something to obtain business the you are doing something to go out of business.

It is just the trend I have noticed. The marketing meetings used to be full, now there are only a handful of people there.

I think a positive attitude also helps! One thing my broker always talks about is the law of attraction. Today I got an offer on a house, I thought, 'I hope this goes together,' I need to change my thinking to 'This will go together'! A mental shift is REQUIRED! Thanks for the advice because I try as I may, I can not make buyers come to me with my mind beam. Lol
