Many of you know that I am all about having fun here at ActiveRain. I learn here and I laugh here. Take a look around and you're likely to find me in the middle of the latest blog hijacking.  It's all in good fun and it's a break from the serious side of life.

I DO have a serious side, too. I'm serious about Family...I'm serious about Real Estate...and I am serious about Giving Back to the Community.

Last week, I started a Group Blog For A Cause and I am challenging all 77,505 103,857 Members of ActiveRain to choose a Cause, Blog it and Post it to the Group.

WHY BLOG FOR A CAUSE?

Because you can. Everybody knows that in most markets, times are tough and money isn't flowing as freely as it used to.  I get it.  We're all working harder for less these days but it doesn't mean we can't do SOMETHING to help.  No matter your situation, somebody somewhere is worse off. I promise.  From volunteering time, donating gently used clothing or just getting the word out, anything we do helps.

Take charge.  Find a cause.  Write a blog! Bring a higher level of awareness to a need in your community and make your blog work for others.

YES!  You can make a difference.  NO!  There are no excuses!

Amanda, it's a great thing you are doing!!! I hope people do find the time to blog for a cause. It may not get the business referrals you are all hoping for or any other immediate tangible benefit - but some things in life are priceless and passion is one of those. I am pretty convinced that a large portion of thses over 75K members are passionate about something!:-)

Well Amanda.... I told you I was trying to start a Non Profit Organization... I actually have 2 that I am trying to get started.

The First is Colon Cancer Alliance http://www.ccalliance.org/ . I am a Stage 2 Colon Cancer Survivor and I am trying to get the word out about Colon Cancer. I am the Voices Coordinator for Arkansas currently. I met with our local Mayor this week who is batteling Colon Cancer and he is giving me the support I need to get the ball rolling. CCA is a National Foundation but I am trying to start a non profit here in my own backyard to help uninsured people like myself who are at risk or have symptoms to get scoped. Colon Cancer is the easiest to detect yet it is the #2 killer, because people dont like to talk about it. It isnt quite as pretty as a womans breast for example! The organization I am starting will be similar to the Susan G. Komen Foundation but for Colon Cancer. I have not chosen a name for this organization yet but would love some help coming up with one!

The other Non Profit I am spearheading was born out of my own situation as well. It came to me one night, I believe from God, as my way of paying it forward. I bought the domain names right away so I could show first use. I am in the process of putting together the people I need to create a Board and filing the application for the 501c3. The name of this Organization is called~ The Dollar Difference Makers. My mission is to end up with 1,000,000+ members who donate $1 a month to help single parents who have hit hard times. Not just a free hand out, but to help them get their lives on track if needed, things such as Career Education, Interview Skills. Sometimes these people need a little help with a car repair, or a big utility bill, rent or mortgage payments, medical expense or some unexpected cost that they just dont forsee. This is an area of need that there isnt an "AGENCY" for. And it has been my experience that most people would be willing to give someone a dollar IF they knew it would make a difference, but most people would be embarrassed to only give one dollar. I have adopted one of my favorite quotes for our tagline~

"I would rather have 1 percent of the efforts of 100 people than 100 percent of my own effort." - John Paul Getty

TEAM= Together Everyone Achieves More!!

So... If you would like to get on the "list" to become a "Dollar Difference Maker"... please email me your information. What I need currently is help with the funds for the 501c3. If anyone is willing to donate to help get this started, please email me your information and how you might be willing to help. I will be setting up special incentives for those who help to get this organization off the ground.

I have BIG PLANS... and could use a little bit of help from a lot of generous people to make it work!

To your success,

Susan

Amanda, Great post and an important cause to be sure. For years I've donated to the Red Cross. I can no longer give due to traveling to certain parts of Mexico, but I can volunteer at blood drives and of course, write that check. I'm working on my Blog for a Cause. Thanks for the inspiration!

Amanda you are AMAZING! I wish you would come and work with me. I'm sorry to hear about your mom.  My cause..I would like to form an organization for single parents who are finding a hard time looking for a job due to day care costs for their children.  I would like to be able to provide a week or two of day care for them in order to look for a job.

2nd is people suffering from full blown panic attacks.  I went through several years of these and couldn't even leave my home.  My grandmother had to come and live with me and go to the grocery store to get food.  You think you are having a heart attack.  I got through this and now look at me!  I'm still a bit shy....HA!!!!!! but I would love to help people that suffer from this.

Let's have a BIG GIVE in the Real Estate Industry.  You and I can be team members and challenge teams in other parts of the US.

Let's meet soon!
