We just got back from a WCR luncheon. The speaker was from the BBB and gave a statistic that I thought was very thought provoking. He said that when a client has a good experience, they will tell three people. When a client has a bad experience, they tell eleven.
Of course when any consumer has a bad experience with some professional, whether it is because that "professional" is corrupt or incompetent, they have not only had a bad experience and lost time and money, but have taken business away from a good professional.
It seems that if we were more proactive in referring each other, we can put incompetent people out of business a lot faster. This entails two steps as I see it. 1) Know what your network of professionals does and what is a good prospect for them, and 2) recommend them proactively. When we have a good experience we should tell eleven people!
It infuriates and frustrates me that crooked agents and lenders (in my business) can seem to find prospect after prospect, there's a saying along the lines that bad people prevail when good people do nothing...
