The struggles that homeowners and real estate agents are facing in some markets across the country are abundant. I don't believe there aren't buyers for real estate, but rather that buyers are looking for the next best thing, and are waiting until they perceive they can find it.
This thought process is leading homeowners into some difficult situations. Some are waiting to put their house on the market after they view the increased competition. Others are lowering their prices to try to bait buyers to their doorstep and undercut their competition. There are some homeowners who are walking away from their houses and letting the banks foreclose.
The negative feelings in the market today seem to increase with each daily headline. How can home sellers compete in their market? How can they effectively focus on the positive attributes of their house and find a buyer who wants to call it a home?
I believe you need to partner with your real estate agent to work on marketing the best aspects of your house. Your competition might be fierce and prices might be competitive, but there is a reason why you purchased the house you live in today.
- It could be because of the layout of your house.
- It could be because of the school district you live in.
- Maybe your neighborhood brings you a security and warmth that you couldn't find easily in other neighborhoods.
- You may be located conveniently near shopping.
- Perhaps you live in a commuter's haven and it takes you no more than 30 minutes to reach a major metro.

Rebecca,
Congratulations to your daughter - sometimes it's easier to kick butt than "take names"!
