I have recently discovered a challenge in getting my Android phone and tablet to work with .kml files. I want to run MyTracks in order to show off my land listings, most of which are 36 acres or more. After several hours of working and learning, I have finally succeeded in making lot outlines for the properties I have listed. These show the way I want in Google Earth, both on my PC as well as in my Android Phone and in my Android Tablet. Google Earth can show my progress in real time but it does not track and requires me to update my position.
The Google application, MyTracks, also works quite well in recording the tracks while I am walking the property. I hope to get MyTracks to open my .kml file so I can see the lot outlines at the same time I am walking the property. If that can be accomplished, I will be able to make sure I am walking the lot and not straying beyond the boundaries.
Here is an example of the lot outline showing in Google Earth.
MyTracks actually works better because it always shows the aerial view looking straight down on the property.
In Summary, I would like to set KML files in assocation to MyTracks so the file is opened by MyTracks when chosen from a file manager.
