The world comes to Salt Lake City Utah
Twice a year (first weekend April and October) about 100,000 people come to Salt Lake City UT for the General Conferences of the LDS Church.
This weekend greeted them with cool mornings, warm Autumn sunshine with the grandeur of snow on the mountains.
Yesterday I took in the atmosphere of the 183rd Semi Annual General Conference.
Sunday Best (even on a Saturday) was the order of the day. Well packed trains, TRAX blue, green and red lines, on 10 minute schedules throughout the day.
I greeted Ukrainians, Russians, Germans, French, Italians, Brazilians, Africans, Peruvians... and even Australians (I am fluent in Strine). Visitors from many part of USA and Canada as well.
The Conference Center holds 22,000. Nearby buildings take some of the overflow, families have their places on lawns and surrounding gardens. Utahns can watch proceedings in their homes on television.
The Web carries all five two hour sessions on LDS.org. Twitter and Facebook were alive with Conference posts. The electronic age allows world wide sharing of the event.
Early attendees today will hear the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in its broadcast of Music and the Spoken Word prior to the morning Session of Conference.
