You're Not Alone!

You're Not AloneYou're not alone!  Sometimes, life gives us a heavy heart.  Sadly, I lost a close relative and a dear colleague unexpectedly during the Thanksgiving holiday.

The sorrow pill is never easy to swallow.  I don't like funerals.  I suppose I'm not alone there.  I've always said that when it's my time to go... I want my family and friends to celebrate dancing in the streets singing my favorite tunes.  Okay, so I'm a little strange.

A friend recently shared a thought-provoking quote from Mozart... “The music is not in the notes, but in the silence between.”  I've always considered music to be food for the soul.  Certain songs have a way of evoking strong emotions of cherished memories both past and present.  Some days, the sound of music is more audible when life hits the 'pause' button.

Are you finding yourself having to face the music?  Perhaps you've felt like no one can relate to your difficult circumstance.  It's not uncommon for many of us to privately suffer in silence.  For those sweet souls who are going through difficult times, I offer this lovely song to lift your spirit... You're Not Alone.   Truth is, we're never truly alone

Yes, Mel it certainly is hard to face the holidays when you lose a loved one during them.

I was just telling my friends at work today as we decorated for our office party a whole luxury listing I have for the party, that I have taken 13 years since losing my Grandfather to find the urge to go all out again for Christmas.

For it was our special thing each year to decorate and he taught me and raised me and after he passed on Oct 25th, 2000, I never had the urge again until this year and that is because by tomorrow when I am done, my granddaddy will be able to see my lights all the way to heaven and once again he will be grinning from ear to ear as I will make him proud this year.

Melinda, there's a bit of this going around.  We just can't take it for granted that the people we love will last forever.  And great song!

Mel- when a relative, friend, or loved one is lost during the holidays that loss can linger for many many years.  I'm so sorry for your loss.  All we can do is cherish the ones we love while they're with us.

Oh Kevin, I understand your loss.  I too, lost a loved one (my mother) during the holidays 18 years ago.  It's a hurt you never forget.  I'm rejoicing in the fact that you're able to celebrate all the joys of Christmas this year.  I'm certain your grand-dad is smiling real BIG right about now ;-)

I hear ya... Patricia.  So many tragic events of late.  All the more reason for us to share our love with those closest to us.  I'm glad you enjoyed the song ;-)

Thank you Kathy!  You're a sweet soul and someone who always makes others feel better.  Thanks for raining sunshine Sista!

Oh Mel, I'm sorry to hear the news. Every - too soon - passing is a reminder to hold on tight to your loved ones and to tell them how special they are.

You are special!

I can imagine those who love me will be sad at my passing some day too.  So if they choose to mourn that's okay with me.. I am celebrating life with them today, right now.  Having lost too many young people in our family over the years I have truly learned to dance like no one is watching and sing like no one is listening and treasure little moments.

Thank you for your special comment... Andrea!  You're very sweet!  I hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving with those precious girls of yours ;-)

That's a good way to describe the feeling... Cheryl.  I hate the 'C' word and what it does to loved ones... I'm sorry for your loss too!

I know you've experienced a lot of loss... Tammy!  I'm glad you've adapted a wonderful way of being present in the moment ;-)

Sometimes those bitter pills provide hidden blessings that we don't know or see for years to come.  I always try to look for the silver lining... Charles ;-)

Hi Mel,  it's so hard to lose loved ones and even sadder when it occurs over the holidays. I believe they will be back. Maybe not in my lifetime but I believe we are given more than one life to live.  Yes I'm weird.

It's been almost impossible for me to attend a funeral since my husband died.  It has gotten worse as I've gotten older but I do try especially when it is someone close to me.  There will be no funeral when I die.

I like weird too... Belinda ;-)  Thanks for the happy thoughts this morning!

Oh Cindy... I hear ya!  Like Tammy, I'd rather celebrate life in the here and now, and hold fond memories of loved ones in my heart... forever!  I hope every day gets a little easier for you.
